Earth Day 2008.
"Earth Day is a time to celebrate gains we have made and create new visions to accelerate environmental progress. Earth Day is a time to unite around new actions. Earth Day and every day is a time to act to protect our planet." - Earth Day - US Government Portal
Yes this is the special event I was referring to yesterday when I wrote the post "An important reminder". I believe that several countries around the world have payed a special attention about this phenomenon.
Leading politicans have encouraged people to take action in different ways in order to prevent more damages on what's left of our world. For example they have listed different suggestions of how we can save energy, use less water, reduce/reuse/recycle while being at home.
The fact that our world is changing dramatically is no longer new to most of us living in the modern parts of the world. Each and everyone of us should take our own responsibility for this will affect the young generation living today but also those that are to come.
My family and I think about this every day. For example when we sort out our garbage, shower in the morning/evening, make sure that when we leave a room the lights are off etc.
There are many "smaller ordinary things" one could do to prevent more natural catastrophes. It's our choice if we want to change the way most of us are living our lives right now. I have decided to be a part of it, to actually make a change. What about you?
